Books galore.

Firstly, choir we are so dead. Slightly better than yesterday but we still suck alot. So the wonderful miracle that VS choir might rise to the occasion and be imbued by courage, no sore throats and loud strong talented voices. -_________-" So the (fried)foodstuff i am attempting to smuggle there might go completely uneaten. At all. And we might end up getting just a COP, whereby Vs choir will officially fail to have the support of Mr Kwei, that funny conductor, and collapse (written correctly?)and die. (w00t?) Yah. So, watever.

Another thing. Books. I'm a natural bookworm and now in the holidays I can finally catch up on my reading. Homework coms later due to Oloumouc, haha. I mean, bloody sH!7 and uh-oh. The latest set of books keeping me awake is a 4-set of fiction books on Eygpt. Christian Jacq is a rather interesting author to come up with the stories. I'll read them all, his series of books. heh heh.
latest updates on choir stuff

I feel so sad today. It's not demoralised. It's merely a cloud of uneasy gloom and emoness and i sulk alot. It's really a series of unfortunate events, followed on by two days back.

Yah, so two days ago I woke up late (11.50.) Choir started at 1 pm and the bus took 45 minutes to reach VS. So I skipped lunch, walked very fast, and managed to end up 10 minutes late. Lol. Then we sucked, so 15 downs. Meaning, push-ups. Then i was late, so 10 more, Then sops stayed back for some more prep talks and 15 more downs. Tot. clocking: 40, on an empty stomach. -________________-.

Then today I woke up at 9, and then slept back till 9.30, then till 10.30... and had to eat a tiny lunch (a tiny cup noodle) and run out of the house again. Then I fortunately arrived 3 minutes early, there was nobody around. So I randomly walked around SSCC (not VS) until some kind soul told me that VS chir was at the Conference Room. So I ran up and was late again. Zzzz. Then at the 'rehearsal' with TKSS we got trashed up, so to speak. Meaning that i floundered due to too-long eye shutting, one song sped up like some mad train, and we were soft, and.......... You get it. So TKSS beat us. I can imagine. '4 more days, you guys still like that. This is not even competition standard. How are we going to Oloumouc like that? We might as well not go, go there get not even a gold or silver or even bronze, just a COP. (cert. of part.) Down. XXXX#$^#^(*&_)%&^.

That didn't happen. But still, I'm under a cloud of emoness. Think of some stilck figure with a big thundercloud perpetually above him, the rest is sunny but the poor stickman is drenched ands soaked to the skin. That's me. haiz... ):>

Yep. Finally a new post. Zzzz.

So. Finally the damned math project is done. And sch has ended. Yay. I got rather pathatic results. Aggregate score = 67.4. SUCK. I feel so damn sad. And for choir it's just a week away to Oloumouc. We are so bloody dead. More prac. heh heh.

There's actually basically nothing to report. I mean, type. Apart from the fact that today's prac for sops only (cos we suck) was supposed to be '10 minutes only' and actually lasted for 3 hrs. wow. -_________________________-'

Exams are over! w00t! I think I scored badly though. But anyway, I ran around Parkway and played 3hrs++ of cards before we sarted on the math porject. Running around PP, BTW, involves several trips to the arcade. Solely the arcade ;) Whereby we played air hockey (trashed JX up 8-4), a stupid bear game, and racing car and motorbike games. Also Metal Slug though I didn't really know how to operate the damned barbie and died every 30 secs. =.=' Racing stuff were so fun. But I suc cos i long time nvr go liao. It's been 6yrs plus. you know. Well actually 2 months due to project work where we had to interview some guy there. Who declined. sigh.

Math project is so dead anw.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LExJ6oN4hUo&feature=related- Andrew Johnston. Wonderful sop guy, 13 yrs old. The sop me is envious of him. The usual me is appriceative of such a beautiful vioce. Hope he makes it to the finals and win X)

On Bubble Tea

Bubble tea's a really nice drink and far more woth it than fast food drinks like Mountain Dew or ice lemon tea (my two favs there) and coke (my least fav drink there.)Comparing drink sellers:

PP bubble tea shop( i forgot the real name)

Tea: not bad at all. Nice blend.
Pearls: Normal and mini sized. I shoot both at trees cos their too chewy and i hate those. but still rather alright. Small thumbs up.

Cup Walker (Kovan)

Tea: lage cup and big cost. A little too concentrated though. On the whole a big thumbs up :)

Pearls: normal and mini sized. Mini sold out when I bought it so too bad for me. The pearls were so yummy that I didn't really shoot them at my victims (trees I passed when walking.) Not sticky, not chewy. When I test-shot at a tree the thing rolled 3cm before stopping. Cute. Also alot of pearls.

Sweet talk (kovan)

Tea: usual cup, slightly more ex cost. Grapes are seriously blended which resulted in skin and little bits of seed floating around in the drink. Spit out the dregs at the last part to get to the pearls.

Pearls: only normal sold. Usual chewy stuff.
On average for this shop: disgusting.

'the womanizer'

Adam walked past the coffeeshops of Geylang, where he flashed his biceps and muscle in a thin white sleeveless shirt and Bermuda shorts. Brimming full of self-confidence he wolf whistled at a scantily dressed girl talking animatedly with her friend (they both blushed.).

He jumped onto his Honda motorbike and zoomed past the girls. Back to his house from Hotel 81 (he did some deals there and a bit of XXX in rooms). The schedule: to the damned office for an offical meeting and then free play. Perhaps he would go on a buying spree and fill the storeroom with golf articles, Playboy magazines, Ipod, a new full wall plasma screen tv, a new house (?!), a new car, more crap. After all he was a rich man's son. His father was based in the U.S and he himself liked Singapore for no reason. Singapore. A little island, the size of his home back in the U.S, no good car brands, it was shit. Perhaps the only thing which caused him to remain here was the fact that he hated the U.S more than Singapore. But perhaps he would buy a house in Frace or the sea there. What was it called again? Ah, the midditerean. The wrong spelling probably, but who cared.

... Or perhaps he would go have dinner with his girlfriend of 2 months. He liked her last month but now he was losing interest rapidly. She eagerly jumped at every date though. Guess she wanted to be a fich- no, filthy rich- man's son's wife. She could order an entire house made of diamond (too se-through though) and his father would still have a billion quid left over. It wasn't as if she had no figure anyway. She was a E cup and had curves in all the right places and was a manager at some aircon company. She was outright sexy in a suit. But who cared. Adam had plenty to choose from. He dumped her, a hundred more came clamouring for his love.

He still wanted her though. She was still worth being a plaything. But soon, very soon, he would kick her out and pick another girlfriend. She was his 70th, by the way.

So he messaged her on his custom-made phone. A dinner at The Oriental today, honey? Yes, of course! I missed you so..

How ironic of him. And how big a suck-up this bitch was. Well, he decided, he would dump her today.

At dinnertime she choked on something in the rice. A ring! She smiled happily. "I, Grace Yeo, am so a rich man's wife now!!" she told everyone. They politely cpalled hands. Adam smiled sarcastically and pulled her roughly down from the chair she was standing on. He took the 7 carat diamond ring from her, took a glass of acid the waiter had brought in, and threw it in. The ring was gone in a matter of seconds. It was a fake thing.

Grace watched openmouthed. She stood there motionless. Then large tear droplets leaked out of her eyelids and she began sobbing loudly. Suddenly she slapped Adam hard on the cheek and kicked him in the crotch. While he writhed on the floor she grabbed his shirt and said to him, 'I'll be back.' The look on her face was pure hatred. Adam had no idea that Grace learnt kungfu or whatever. She didn't anyway. 'Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.' She was the woman. And the anger was vented on Adam. Yep, she would be back. Adam grew scared for the first time in his life. But that dissapeared after he went to first a doctor and then a nightclub. Where he met his latest girlfriend. Or rather, girlfriend-to-be.

Hehe following ryan........... D&T personal reflection.

For me, diorama making way exceeds the Secondary One Victorian Guitar in terms of skill, time taken, level of difficulty, and so on. ... But what mattered in the end was that I took a great interest in this highly absorbing project and eventually, I am proud to say that I have learnt something.

The diorama started with an in-class lesson and how an expert in dioramas made them. By buying materials and arranging them, though albeit costly, looked very nice on the screen. I resolved to make our diorama a top grade one. In the following lessons I planned the diorama together with the other members of my group. Although we drew out a definite plan, due to carelessness and other factors some were lost or we improvised or made new plans in the following weeks to come.

My group actually wanted to build a castle-like diorama with only one side exposed to show Macbeth in one of the rooms killing Duncan. The cost was estimated (by me!) to be around $80+. How drastic the actual expenditure would amount to! (~ $240)

So in the end, we made a diorama which had different dimensions, and changed the setting to be an opera house. As for the interior, thought out by me and Ryan in one of our numerous KFC dinners, we decided on the same scene and an audience row and a ticket counter and a staircase, not to mention other things. The scene was later changed to the discovery of the dead Duncan due to time constraints, which were in turn due to lack of active participation in some members. Also, there was supposed to be a back panel which had Duncan’s room painted on it. However somebody stole it and now it is gone forever.

Components of the actual diorama (also thought out by me and Ryan) were:
The base;
The ‘mechanism storage space’;
The electronics;
The orchestra;
The signboard;
The ‘grass’;
The trees and bushes;
The fences and gate;
The front door and walls;
The chandeliers;
The ceiling;
The ticket counter and staircase;
The audience, seat and aisle;
The stage;
The figurines.

So we got to work making the diorama. Although there was actually supposed to be equal workload, however some people did not work as hard which in turn cause the others to work harder. Thus might influence other projects and other grades.

So, all in all, the ‘completion’ of the diorama was a huge load off my shoulders. However I did enjoy myself immensely throughout the entire process, even more so as I was regarded as the ‘main architect’.

My Contributions:

I did do a substantial amount of work regarding the diorama. For the physical stuff (building of the diorama) I did:

Base; mechanism storage space; electronics; orchestra; the signboard; grass; trees and bushes; fences and gate; walls; lighting of chandeliers; ceiling; staircase; audience seats and aisle; part of the stage; and some figurines.

For the more ‘admin’ aspects, I did:

Calling of group members at the starting weeks; accounting for the first part; documentation; totaling of expenditure; planning of layout of diorama; researching on dioramas and other whatnot; buying of materials.

Some difficulties we faced along the way:

Some things we faced were, as abovefore mentioned, were lack of time, more pressing homework, arguments on whose turn it was to bring the diorama home and inactive group members.

Although there should have actually be more than enough time to complete the diorama, factors such as inactive group members dragged the schedule to the point of lateness; after all, it was handed in just in time. Also, things like CCAs, supplementary and other more occupying things compressed our remaining time. For example, although there was only one week left (or even less) to the choir’s Rhapsody VIII performance, Ryan and I still spared time and skipped practice to try and complete the diorama. Therefore we expected the other group members to do the same. However, we understand that not every member had priorities on the diorama and therefore will not blame them. But still, one meeting less is less work done.

For supplementaries, it was agreed that homework was more important, though some of us, including myself, skipped some to do the diorama again.

The diorama usually ended up in mostly Ryan’s, Azmi’s or Timothy’s house respectively, although I landed with the heavy load twice and carried home bags of material on all other days. As for Isaiah and Ze Hao, they did not take the diorama home at all, and whenever we asked them to they made an excuse and quickly ran off. Truth or false, I do not know.

Also, due to the diorama being quite fragile, whenever probing hands touched the figurines or the fences they were very liable to break off. We repeatedly fixed it; however, there was an incident when Timothy broke off a fence and just dumped it on the diorama, and did not bother to fix it. It pained me to see something which I, and the other group member’s, had worked on for such a long time be carelessly destroyed. Also from that I can see that Timothy is not very concerned about the state of the diorama and moreover he said several times that he wanted out. We tried to be patient with him and give him more chances but he blew them all; the final straw came when he ran off during D&T lesson to go find Ms Fox. Everyone had to go look for him, which wasted precious time which could have been used to further the diorama; also when the diorama was left unguarded somebody stole the curtain mechanism.

Some Lessons I have learnt through the process of making the diorama:

 I think that I have the capacity to become a leader if I manage to overcome my shyness. I was the ‘leading architect’, as mentioned above, and instructed some other members to do a particular aspect of the work.
 I have learnt that teamwork is important in a group; also team spirit. Without these qualities a member would invite resentment and would be excluded or self isolated during social working together and would not enjoy the whole learning process at all.
 Co-operation is necessary to do a group project; everyone must work together or the thing will fall apart.
 My little insight: Teamwork is useful throughout your entire working life and possibly afterwards.
 I like D&T a lot!
 Therefore when you do something or a subject that you like you will enjoy it. As my Agatha Christie book says, ‘A man not doing something he likes to do is only half a man.’ It seems likely that I will take D&T in Secondary 3.

On the issue of marks:
I feel that everyone should be graded according to how determined and dedicated they are in doing the diorama. Also, I think that peers should evaluate themselves and others and give truthful marks as this will make them honest and also since they are the ones working with their members they would know exactly what everyone did. Therefore they are actually the ones able to give the most accurate mark in proportion to amount of work done. Thus, I think that the marks should be left status quo (Me 25%, Ryan 25%, Azmi 20%, Timothy 5%, Ze Hao 15%, and Isaiah 10%) as everyone agreed in the D&T room that this should be their mark.
